Assembly Instructions for
Tall and Medium Height OP Bunkbeds

Once you have fabricated the pieces, the OP Bunkbed is ready to be assembled. It is a good idea to leave all the hardware slightly loose while assembling. After everything is assembled, you should go back and make sure that everything is tight.

Click on the pictures below to see larger versions.

The first step in assembly is to assemble the headboard. Lay out the two tall legs and attach the short horizontal braces. Next attach two short mattress supports, and finally the short X-brace pieces. You may choose to attach the shelves while you have it on the floor. After everything is together, stand the assembly against the wall, but make sure that it won't fall

Next, you will assemble the footboard. Lay out the two short legs and attach the steps and the other two short mattress supports.
Partially lift the short leg assembly and fasten one long mattress support. Having another person is really helpful with this.
Lift the free end of the long mattress support and fasten it to headboard.
The headboard/shelf can be installed in the lower section or at the top of the bed. Or you could make two headboard/shelves and have them at both locations.
Install the bottom back long mattress support, the long X-brace pieces, the bottom front long mattress support, and a bottom center mattress support (in that order).
After attaching the top long mattress support and top center mattress support, you are now ready to drop in the plywood. Before doing so, make sure that you didn't leave anything under the bed such as tools, or the family pet.
This view shows the completed center mattress support in place for the top bunk.
Congratulations, you have just finished assembling your OP Bunkbed!
