Total cost of the lumber to build an OP Loftbed should be around
$100, and can be purchased from your local
lumber yard or at most any home improvement store such as
Lowes or Home
Depot. Here is a list of what you would need to build a Twin
Extra Long* tall size OP Loftbed:

- 10 pcs 2" x 6" x 96" pine board
- 13 pcs 2" x 4" x 96" pine board
- 1 pcs 3/4" x 48" x 96" plywood
Fasteners
- 60 pcs 3/8-16 x 3-3/4" hex head cap screws (bolts)
- 2 pcs 3/8-16 x 2" hex head cap screws (bolts)
- 62 pcs 3/8-16 wing nuts
- 124 pcs 3/8" flat washers
- 62 pcs 3/8" lock washers
- 42 pcs #10 x 3-1/2" flat head phillips wood screws
- 24 pcs #10 x 2" flat head phillips wood screws
Total cost for the fasteners is $30.99 if you purchase the kit
online through our OP Loftbed Hardware Store. If you buy these
at a general hardware store like those mentioned above, the price
will run around $70 or more.
*This material list is for the twin extra long tall height loft bed. This
is our most common set of plans because it also seems to be the
most common size in college dorms. Materials and costs for other
sizes will vary proportionately, and is printed on page 3 of the
purchased plans. Lumber and fasteners are commodity items and
prices can vary greatly from day to day and in different geographic
locations.

On the Tall Height (Original) OP Loftbed the mattress platform
is adjustable to:
60-1/2", 63-1/4", or 66" above the floor. On the
Medium Height OP Loftbed, the mattress platform is adjustable
to 49 1/2", 46 3/4", or 44" above the floor. On the
Short Height OP Loftbed, the mattress platform is adjustable
to 33", 30 1/4", or 27 1/2" above the floor. Check

The uprights on the Tall Height OP Loftbed can be shortened somewhat
to fit rooms with low ceilings. Also, up to one foot can safely
be added to the bottom of the legs if greater heights are desired.
